There’s just something about the 4th of July that makes me want a hot dog real bad (iykyk!), but seriously, it makes me feel like it is officially summer. The smell of BBQs, kids running around with sparklers, evenings spent outside with family and friends, and ending the night with fireworks lighting up the sky. But if you’re anything like me, you may be looking for something a little more memorable than standing in your driveway watching the neighborhood fireworks show (while hoping your pets survive the night!).

The good news? Living in the Foothill Communities means we have so many amazing options nearby — from hometown celebrations right here in Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, and Claremont to adventures that take you to the beach, Los Angeles, or the mountains. Whether you’re looking for a quick evening outing or you want to turn the holiday into a full-day adventure, here are some of the best places to celebrate the Fourth of July.

If you’re looking for the classic hometown Fourth of July experience, this is it.

Rancho Cucamonga’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular is one of the biggest local celebrations and includes entertainment, family activities, and a fireworks show set to patriotic music.

It’s a great option for families who want all the fun of a big event without having to travel far from home.

Make it a full evening:

• If you're not BBQing, you can grab dinner from one of the local vendors before the event

• Bring chairs and blankets

• Arrive early for parking and a good viewing spot

• Stay for the fireworks finale

Upland — Light Up the Night: Block Party on Benson

Benson Avenue (between 16th Street and Howard Access Road)

Upland is changing things up for 2026, and this new format sounds like it’s going to be a fun one! The City of Upland is introducing the “Block Party on Benson” as part of this year’s LIGHT UP THE NIGHT Fireworks Spectacular, bringing a fresh new celebration experience with even more community fun. This year’s event will transform Benson Avenue into a festive block party atmosphere featuring:

• Live entertainment

• Food

• Family activities

• Patriotic celebrations

• A fireworks show lighting up the night sky

Make it a full Upland evening:

• Plan to eat dinner at the Block Party

• Enjoy the entertainment and activities

• Soak up the hometown atmosphere

• Stay for the fireworks finale

Tickets are expected to sell quickly, and early ticket buyers can be entered into special drawings for onsite parking.

Claremont — Fourth of July Celebration

If you love a charming, community-style celebration, Claremont is always a great choice. Spend the day exploring the Village, grab coffee or lunch, browse local shops, and enjoy the slower pace before settling in for fireworks after dark.

It’s one of those evenings that feels like a true small-town celebration.

Worth the Drive: Southern California Fireworks Adventures

Sometimes the best memories come from making a little adventure out of it. If you’re willing to drive a bit, these experiences are worth adding to your summer bucket list.

Disneyland — Anaheim

Watching fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle with patriotic music playing in the background is a true Southern California experience. Yes, it will be crowded. Yes, you’ll probably walk a lot. And yes, your feet may remind you of your decision the next day!

But if you have kids, teens, or anyone who loves Disney, this is a Fourth of July memory they won’t forget.

One of my favorite things about living in the Foothill Communities is that we can trade valley heat for mountain air in no time.

If you’re looking for cooler temperatures, pine trees, lake views, and a Fourth of July that feels more like a getaway, these are worth the drive.

Big Bear Lake — Fireworks Over the Water

This might be my favorite “make a weekend out of it” option.

Imagine fireworks reflecting off the lake, surrounded by mountains, with temperatures that are much cooler than the valley.

It’s the kind of Fourth of July experience that feels like a mini vacation.

Make it a mountain adventure:

• Spend the day on the water (you can rent kayaks or a pontoon!)

• Explore the area

• Grab dinner in the Village (if you haven't tried Tropicali, you MUST)

• Watch fireworks over the lake

Snow Summit — Above the Boom

Big Bear Mountain Resort

Ride the Scenic Sky Chair up the mountain and enjoy panoramic views while watching fireworks from above. This is such a fun option for a date night, a special family memory, or anyone looking for something a little different.

Lake Arrowhead — A Mountain Fourth of July Experience

If you’re looking for a Fourth of July that feels like a true summer escape, Lake Arrowhead is a beautiful choice.

Picture this: cooler mountain temperatures, a lake backdrop, live music, planes flying overhead, and fireworks reflecting across the water.

The Lake Arrowhead Fireworks Spectacular takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, with fireworks launching from a barge on the lake at 9:00 PM. The show is free to view from the shores of Lake Arrowhead Village. But the fun starts earlier!

The perfect Lake Arrowhead itinerary:

• Grab coffee before heading up

• See the Freedom Fly-Over between 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 5:00 - 7:15 PM

• Explore Lake Arrowhead Village

• Enjoy a meal with a lake view

• Listen to live music from 5:30-9:30 PM

• Watch fireworks over the water

One of the things I love most about living in the Foothill Communities is that we truly have the best of both worlds. We can enjoy incredible local celebrations right in our own backyard, or within a short drive we can be at the beach, in the city, or surrounded by pine trees in the mountains.
