Thanksgiving Sides That Slay: 3 Dishes To Delight Guests

Have you heard of Alison Roman? Her simple but melt-in-your-mouth recipes have made her a top food writer and cookbook author for years. She is my secret weapon in the kitchen. That's why I turn to her for the best Thanksgiving side dishes to share with you. In honor of the upcoming holiday, here are three dishes to delight the whole crowd.

Frizzled Green Beans, Mushrooms, and Onions

From Alison, “Lightly frizzled, tons of meaty flavor, mushrooms, and green beans get roasted at the same time at the same temperature with olive oil and a little soy sauce (for salty flavor amplification, an ingredient in the OG green bean casserole recipe!).”

Garlicky, Buttered Carrots

Saute and steam a crowded skillet of fresh sliced carrots in a rich buttery bath with a pinch of something spicy (red pepper flakes, cayenne, or even hot paprika) until tender. After removing from heat, season with fresh grated garlic.

Brown Buttered Squash with Walnuts & Dates

Brown butter, walnuts, and dates... in the same recipe! This one is a major crowd pleaser. Bonus? You can make it ahead of time and give it a quick warm up while carving the turkey.

No matter the side dishes you choose, use high-quality ingredients and season them well with fresh herbs for the tastiest possible flavor.

Enjoy — and Happy Thanksgiving from my kitchen to yours!

Hey Inland Empire, I’m Candice Newman! I’ve had the incredible fortune of being born and raised in this amazing community, and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I currently live in Alta Loma with my husband, Jonathan, our son, Trevor, and our dog, Ruger! I’m a real estate agent with a passion for finding new places to explore in the Foothill Communities. When I'm not selling homes, you can find me cheering my son on at his baseball games, exercising, spending time in our local mountains, heading to the lake, cooking, or watching the Dodgers slay the Giants (I was born and raised an Angels fan, but the Dodgers have taken over the household!). I'll never have enough Mexican food and Italian food in my life. I’m looking forward to connecting with you soon! See you around town! Candice.Newman.Realty@gmail.com | (909) 367-3280 DRE: 01924842
