One of my favorite things about living and working in the Foothill Communities is that we don’t have to drive far to find a great night out. From historic restaurants that have been part of our community for decades to tucked-away spots that feel like a local secret, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, La Verne, and Claremont all have their own unique date night personality. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, catching up after a busy week, or just looking for an excuse to get out of the house (because let’s be honest… sometimes dinner without kids asking for a bite of your food feels like a vacation), here are five local favorites worth adding to your list.

Magic Lamp Inn | Rancho Cucamonga

8189 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730

There are some restaurants that feel like they’re part of the story of a community — and Magic Lamp Inn is one of those places.

A Rancho Cucamonga landmark since 1955, this is the spot you choose when you want dinner to feel a little more special. The dim lighting, classic steakhouse atmosphere, and longtime favorites like prime rib and signature cocktails make it a great choice for anniversaries, celebrations, or a night when you want to slow down and enjoy the experience.

Local tip: Make a reservation, take your time, and don’t skip the cocktail menu. This is one of those places where the experience is just as memorable as the meal.

The Sycamore Inn | Rancho Cucamonga

8318 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730

Another Foothill classic, The Sycamore Inn has been welcoming guests since the early days of Rancho Cucamonga and still carries that old-school charm that makes date night feel different.

Known for steaks, prime rib, seafood, and a cozy atmosphere, it’s a favorite for those evenings when you’re looking for something more relaxed and traditional.

Local tip: This is the kind of restaurant where you put your phone away, order a glass of wine, and actually catch up with the person sitting across from you.

Viva Madrid | Claremont

225 Yale Ave, Suite B, Claremont, CA 91711

If your ideal date night includes good food, conversation, and a reason to take a stroll afterward, Viva Madrid is a Claremont Village favorite.

This Spanish tapas restaurant is all about sharing — order a few small plates like patatas bravas, croquetas, or other tapas, add a pitcher of sangria, and make an evening out of exploring the Village afterward.

Local tip: Go early, grab a table, and plan extra time after dinner to walk Yale Avenue. Claremont has a way of making a simple dinner feel like a mini getaway.

Allegro | La Verne

2124 3rd St, La Verne, CA 91750

Sometimes you just want a cozy Italian dinner, and Allegro delivers that neighborhood restaurant feel that makes you want to linger a little longer.

With handmade pasta, Italian favorites, and a warm atmosphere, this is a great choice for a quieter date night where the focus is good food and good conversation.

Local tip: This is a great “let’s actually talk” restaurant — the kind of place where dinner doesn’t feel rushed.

Nuno’s Bistro & Bar | Claremont

244 S Indian Hill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711

For a date night with a slightly more elevated feel, Nuno’s Bistro & Bar brings together creative dishes, craft cocktails, and a cozy atmosphere right near the heart of Claremont.

It’s a favorite when you’re looking for something beyond the typical dinner out — whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to try a new spot.

Local tip: Start with cocktails at the bar and make your way through the menu. It’s the type of place where sharing a few dishes makes the experience even better.

One of the reasons I love the Foothill Communities is that our favorite places aren’t just businesses — they’re where birthdays are celebrated, first dates happen, friendships are built, and memories are made.

These are the spots that add character to Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, La Verne, and Claremont and make our neighborhoods feel like home.

If you’re new to the area (or have lived here forever and just need a new favorite), I hope you add one of these to your next date night list.

And if you have a local favorite I missed, send it my way — I’m always looking for the next Foothill gem to share.

Hey Inland Empire, I’m Candice Newman! I’ve had the incredible fortune of being born and raised in this amazing community, and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I currently live in Alta Loma with my husband, Jonathan, our son, Trevor, and our dog, Ruger! I’m a real estate agent with a passion for finding new places to explore in the Foothill Communities. When I'm not selling homes, you can find me cheering my son on at his baseball games, exercising, spending time in our local mountains, heading to the lake, cooking, or watching the Dodgers slay the Giants (I was born and raised an Angels fan, but the Dodgers have taken over the household!). I'll never have enough Mexican food and Italian food in my life. I’m looking forward to connecting with you soon! See you around town! Candice.Newman.Realty@gmail.com | (909) 367-3280 DRE: 01924842
